You'll gain an in-depth understanding of how exercise impacts the body and learn to design effective training and wellness programs for individuals of all ages and fitness levels. How Long Does It Take to Get a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science?
As a full-time program, the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science can be completed in eight semesters. Through Monroe University's three-semester academic calendar, students may have the opportunity to complete their degree faster than at many traditional institutions.

Foundations of Personal Fitness and Training
This course explores the scientific principles that govern physical fitness and wellness while promoting a strong understanding of the value of lifelong health and exercise. Areas of study include cardiovascular training, safe exercise protocols, muscular strength and endurance development, injury prevention, fitness assessment, FITT principles, goal setting, nutrition, dietary analysis, and stress management. Students regularly participate in simulation-based physical activities and develop their own personalized fitness programs. The concept of wellness, defined as striving to achieve optimal health, serves as the foundation of the course and supports students in applying evidence-based fitness strategies to real-world situations.
Admission Requirements
Applicants to the BS in Exercise Science program must fulfill the following admissions requirements:
- Candidates must possess either a high school graduation credential, a high school equivalency diploma, or a recognized college degree as outlined in the transfer admissions policy.
- Candidates must submit a completed application for admission, as well as a personal statement or essay.
- Placement into college-level math or transfer credit for math with a grade of C or higher.
- Exercise Science applicants also participate in a pre-admission interview.
