Account and Login Issues
Provides solutions and contact information for common problems related to student accounts, including sign-in, password resets, and email access.
Student Email Sign-In Assistance
- Error Message or Incorrect Email: If you receive an error message or a message that your email address is incorrect, please contact the IT Help Desk at helpdesk@monroeu.edu or 646.393.8290 for assistance. If you are an Alumni and have not attended the University in over a year you no longer have an active account.
- Incorrect Credentials: Make sure you are using your Monroe University email address and password. Your email address is formatted as username@monroeu.edu.
- MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) Issues: If you need to update the authentication method for your Microsoft account or cannot access your registered number, please contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.
Login Credentials for New Students
You will receive an email with your credentials from helpdesk@monroeu.edu to the email address that you provided during the application process.

Initial Login for New Students
Your initial login credentials are sent to the personal email address you provided during registration. You will not be able to reset your password without first registering a device for multi-factor authentication (MFA). Your account can be registered in two ways:
- Option 1: Visit https://outlook.office.com. Enter your Monroe University email and the password sent to your personal email. Please select “Next” to keep your account secure. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app and follow the set-up prompts (Recommended for International Students).
- Option 2: Visit https://outlook.office.com. Enter your Monroe University email and the password sent to your personal email. If you do not want to use the Microsoft Authenticator app, select “I want to set up a different method”, choose “Phone”, enter your phone number, and select how you’d like to receive your verification code: “Receive a code” for text message or “Call me” for a phone call.
Password Reset Instructions for Continuing/Re-Admit Students
For Continuing students with MFA
- Go to Outlook via https://outlook.office.com
- You will be asked to sign in using your Monroe email address; please enter your “username + @monroeu.edu” and then click “Next”.
- Select “Forgot my password”.
- Enter the characters on your screen and then click on “Next”.
- For verification purposes, you must enter your entire phone number (i.e., 71812345678) that’s associated with your account. You will be given the option to receive either a phone call or a six-digit code through text on the phone number that you provided.
- Enter a new password with the following criteria:
a. Must be at least 8 characters long;
b. Lowercase and/or uppercase letters;
c. Number(s) and/or special character;
d. Please do not use your name or date of birth in your password. It also cannot be the same as your previous password.
e. Then select “Finish”.
7. Once you select “Click here” you should enter your Monroe email address (“username + @monroeu.edu”) and your new password, and verify your account once more.
Follow the steps listed below, if you’re automatically logged into the Outlook Inbox after navigating to Outlook via (https://outlook.office.com/mail/).
- To the far upper right-hand side you will see either your picture or your initials. Click on that and then select “View Account”.
- Once you select “View Account” you may receive a pop-up screen. If you do, please select “Cancel”.
- Select “Change Password” and then you will be directed to change your password.
- Enter a new password with the following criteria:
a. Must be at least 8 characters long;
b. Lowercase and/or uppercase letters;
c. Number(s) and/or special character;
d. Please do not use your name or date of birth in your password. It also cannot be the same as your previous password;
e. Select “Submit”. - Once you have successfully reset your password, select “Done”.

Student Portal Access
Login to MyMonroe using your Monroe email address and password.
Additional quick links
- Login to Outlook using your Monroe email address and password.
- Login to MyServices using your Monroe email address and password.
- Login to Blackboard using your Monroe email address and password.
To log into Blackboard using your Monroe University account, click on "Sign in with third-party account" and select "Monroe University Login". Then, enter your Monroe University email and password to sign into Blackboard.
If you receive an error message, please select "Return to login" and attempt to login again using the exact same instructions.
Housing Application Sign-in
If you are unable to sign in, please first confirm that you have completed the admissions process and registered for the upcoming semester. You should also check if you have received your username and password credentials. If you are receiving an error message that you are not a member of a specific group, please contact the IT Help Desk at helpdesk@monroeu.edu or 646.393.8290 for assistance.
Blackboard
Login to Blackboard.
Click “Sign in with third-party account” and choose “Monroe University Login” from the dropdown, then enter your Monroe University email address and password.
Workshops and Training Sessions
Please refer to the Institution Page on Blackboard for information on Blackboard workshops, which are usually conducted at the beginning of each semester.
Campus Technology and Wi-Fi Support
Offers guidance on connecting to campus Wi-Fi, using classroom computers, and troubleshooting issues with virtual class technology.
Campus Wi-Fi Connection
Ensure you are connecting to the “Monroe Faculty-Student” Wi-Fi network and using your most up-to-date login credentials. If you did not receive your credentials, contact the IT Help Desk for assistance. Your password may have expired and need to be reset, or it may have been entered incorrectly.
Should you receive an error message, it could be due to your password expiring and needing to be reset, or it may have been entered incorrectly.
Forgetting a Saved Wi-Fi Network
- Windows 11: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks. Select the network and click “Forget”.
- Mac: Go to System Settings > Wi-Fi. Click on the network you want to forget and then click “Forget This Network”.
- iPhone: Go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Tap the “i” icon next to the network, then tap “Forget This Network”.
- Android: Go to your phone's Settings > Wi-Fi settings. Select the network and tap “Forget”.
Connecting Smart Devices to Wi-Fi (Dorm students only)
You must register your device by completing the Media Registration Form on MyMonroe. The process takes 1-3 business days, and the password will be emailed to your Monroe email address.
Virtual Class Audio/Video Issues
- Chrome Browser:
- Click the small icon next to the URL elearn@monroeu.edu.
- Select “Site Settings” from the dropdown list.
- Scroll to “Microphone” and set it to “Allow”.
- Repeat this for “Camera,” “Pop-ups and Redirect," and “Sound”.
- Return to Blackboard and refresh the page.
- General Device Settings (Windows):
- Open Settings on your desktop.
- Select Privacy & security.
- Under “App permissions,” select “Camera” and ensure “Allow apps to access your camera” is turned on.
- Scroll down to “Allow desktop apps to access your monitor” and make sure it is also on.
- Repeat this for “Microphone” permissions.
Classroom Computer Login
Please use your username and password to login to classroom computers.
Academic and Software Resources
Provides instructions for downloading software like Microsoft Office and Lockdown Browser, and explains how to access academic resources such as eTextbooks, grades, and schedules.
Downloading Microsoft Office 365 for Free
- Sign-in with your MONROE email address here: https://www.office.com
- Use the same password that you use for MyMonroe or Blackboard to login.
- You will only see steps 3-6, if you’ve never completed the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) registration.
Select the “Next” button when prompted for “Let’s keep your account secure”. - Register your cellphone number to be able to receive a “Text” with the six-digit verification code.
- Enter the “Code” you received in your text for verification.
- Hit the “Verify” button, then click on “Finish”.
- On the homepage of M365, select “Apps” from the left-hand panel.
- You will then see a number of products displayed.
- Select “Install Apps” on the upper-right corner of the page and then “Microsoft 365 apps” from the drop-down list.
- The application package will download onto the computer. Select it to complete the installation process (it can be found in your download folder).
- You can open a MS 365 app (i.e., Word) to activate the product key by signing in with your MONROE email address and password. In the final steps if you see a “Sign In” error message, select “Sign In” to continue and finalize the process.
Cengage eTextbook Assistance
- New Student: Create a new account using your Monroe email by selecting the eTextbook link from your course on Blackboard.
- Continuing Student: Make sure you are accessing the eTextbook through your course content on Blackboard, not the gradebook.
Lockdown Browser Download
The link for the Lockdown Browser must be provided by your professor for your specific course.
Device Compatibility:
- Lockdown Browser is not available for use on a phone.
- Chromebooks are typically not compatible.
- The use of iPads will have to be approved by your Professor.
Online Grades Access
You can access your grades through MyServices using your Monroe email address and password. You can also access MyServices through MyMonroe by logging in and selecting the MyServices icon.
Accessing Your Schedule
Login to MyServices with your Monroe email. Once on the homepage, navigate to “Student Planning,” then “Plan and Schedule” to find your schedule.
Please contact your Academic Advisor if you have any issues with your course schedule.

Updating Contact Information

Reset your password immediately and contact the IT Help Desk at helpdesk@monroeu.edu or 646.393.8290.
Recognizing Suspicious Emails or Websites
If you are unsure of the legitimacy of an email/sender do not respond, open any attachments or click on any links. Phishing emails often ask for sensitive information. Do not disclose any personal information or passwords. Please contact the IT Help Desk at helpdesk@monroeu.edu or 646.393.8290 for assistance.
